Pregnant and parenting moms in need are in our parishes and our neighborhoods. As Pope Francis reminds us, our parishes need to be “islands of mercy in the midst of the sea of indifference.” Everyone in our parish community should know where to refer a pregnant woman in need. Our parish is joining a nationwide effort entitled: “Walking with Moms in Need.” As part of this initiative our parish will undertake a yearlong process to assess, expand, and better communicate resources to pregnant moms and families in our local community. We invite all parishioners to join us as we embark on this journey together. For more information, to volunteer, and to ensure you receive news and updates, please contact Tanya Ory at 504-722-6318, or at [email protected] outlook.com. We will be handing out prayer cards after all Masses the weekend of January 21-22, in conjunction with the March for Life, January 20 (Washington), January 21 (Louisiana); Sanctity of Life Sunday, January 22; and Day of Prayer for Legal Protection of Unborn, January 23.
