The Adoration Chapel is in need of substitutes from 12 am—6 am and is still welcoming new members. If interested, please call Mike Hebert 764-9459 or the Parish Office 764-6383.
We totally understand why response to our annual fundraiser is slower than past years due to recent storms, hurricanes, the coronavirus pandemic, presidential elections, etc., but there is still time to pray on this and help us help others. THANKS—AGAIN, AGAIN & AGAIN!!! For the third year in a row the SCB Men of Manresa Men’s Club is inviting parishioners to join us as “SPONSORS” by contributing $25.00 or more to our annual fundraiser. Your name with business contributors will be acknowledged later when the fundraiser ends on November 30, 2020. Simply send your donation in an envelope labeled “SCB Men of Manresa Fundraiser” & drop in the weekend Mass baskets or bring to the Rectory or give to a Men’s Club member. Your 2019 contribution of $5,800 was distributed to a number of worthwhile needs & will be displayed in a flyer in a future bulletin. Thanks also to those who helped the Manresa Relief Fund survive during the virus months when retreats were cancelled. Our check for $2,750 was sent on September 25, 2020 to help. This is our way of doing God’s work—thanks!!
The Prayer Line is now posted on our website at scblittleredchurch.org (Home Page). The list, which is updated weekly, includes the names of people in our parish or friends and relatives of our parishioners who are in need of prayers. Names can be added or deleted to the list by calling the Parish Office at 985-764-6383 or Nick Sardegna at 985-764-7821. With prayer nothing is impossible.
RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults - Anyone interested in exploring the possibility of becoming Catholic or inquiring about the Catholic Church is invited to join us for RCIA. RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process by which the non-baptized and those baptized Christians of other faiths wishing to become Catholic can be brought into full communion with the Catholic Church through the sacraments of initiation - Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. It is also for any adult baptized Catholic, who has not yet received the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. We are developing plans to begin meeting for RICA. If you are interested in finding out more about the RCIA and joining us this year, please contact Ron Schumann at 504-909-6209, email
proenginr@aol.com .
Most of you are aware of our Capital Campaign that began in March; but many of you were not presented all the details of the project—namely the Case Statement—because Covid-19 halted our fundraising efforts. We did not even conclude the major gift/leadership division before we had to stop! As you may have noticed by the barometer in front, the campaign began quite successfully. Fortunately, the virus did not stop the construction! It was actually beneficial for the contractors to perform the work because campus activities were minimal. With the perpetual adoration chapel and church interior restrooms added, it is now time to invite the remainder of our parish to participate in the “Enhancing Our Faith Environment” so we can finish the remainder of the project explained in the case statement. Because our campaign volunteers cannot visit parishioners in person, you will be receiving by mail detailed information concerning the campaign within the next few weeks. Please prayerfully read the material and decide how you might invest in our spiritual home here at SCB. Confident of your continued support, I thank you in advance for helping to build our community of faith.
A few weeks ago, some of you received a blank inscription order form for your brick paver just outside the new adoration chapel. We will soon be placing the order with the brick paver company to get those inscribed. If you contributed over $1,000.00 to the capital campaign, you are entitled to an inscribed brick paver. If you qualify and did not receive a blank form, please call Ronald at the parish office. Those who have received a blank form, please return them as soon as you can. Many thanks for your generosity!
The SCB Men of Manresa Men’s Club is accepting donations to help the Manresa Retreat House continue to exist in these trying times (their primary source of income has been cancelled with the virus problem). To participate, simply enclose your check (made to SCB Men’s Club) or cash in an envelope labeled Manresa Relief Fund and drop in the Mass collection basket at Church or drop off at the Rectory. Their work over the years has helped many retreatants. God will bless you for your generosity!!

What is a Qualified Charitable Contribution? Generally, a qualified charitable contribution is an otherwise taxable distribution from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) owned by an individual who is age 70½ or over that is paid DIRECTLY from the IRA to a qualified charity. Many of our parishioners have inquired about this and several are already taking advantage of this possible tax-free opportunity. Of course, discuss this with your CPA or tax accountant to confirm the benefits of this program.
“Be the Hands” Service Committee is a newly forming committee here at SCB. It is a committee that will assist the parish staff on an as needed basis. Volunteer opportunities may include: serving food, setting up tables & chairs, or helping with any parish activity that is going on. Volunteers will be contacted on a rotating basis, so your commitment can be as little as or as much as you like. Please consider joining this newly formed committee by emailing Melanie Hebert at mamhebert@bellsouth.net or calling at 504-799-8618.
